Mobility scooters, wheelchairs and mobility equipment

Give yourself freedom of movement again! The right mobility scooter, wheelchair or walker will help you regain much of the mobility you once had. On these pages you will find a wide choice, from electric mobility scooters via wheelchairs (electric or manual) to walkers, rollators and simple canes.

The first mobility scooter that we would really call "modern" was built in 1968 by a Mr. Alan Thieme in Bridgeport, Michigan, who created this front wheel drive scooter to assist a family member with multiple sclerosis regain some of their independent mobility. Mister Thieme set the pattern that we still follow.

The basic components of today’s mobility scooters are two rear wheels with a seat above them, a flat area upon which to put the feet that also holds the seat and power source, and a steering column with handlebars to steer either one or two front wheels. There are gasoline powered mobility scooters, but most are electric. The more popular electric mobility scooter runs with one or two onboard batteries, which are charged by a standard charger that connects to a typical electrical outlet. The scooter's steering column or "tiller" controls forward, reverse and speed with finger controls, thumb paddles or switches.

Horse-drawn mobility scooterMobility scooters are available in front or rear wheel drive. Usually front wheel drive scooters will accommodate a rider up to 250 lbs. and are more convenient for indoor use due to their smaller size. Rear wheel drive mobility scooters can be used in- and outdoors and will accommodate a weight of up to 350 lbs. Heavy duty rear wheel drive scooters can accommodate riders up to 500 lbs.

Become part of the fun again!

As you can clearly see in the pic, being mobility-challenged does not need to keep you away from all the fun that others partake in! For most people a mobility scooter will not be difficult to operate and control, as long as they have adequate upper body strength and control. Anyone with systemic or disabling body conditions that is still able to stand and walk a few steps, control the steering tiller and sit in an upright position without torso support, will appreciate the assistance of a mobility scooter and the sense of independence it can provide.

A few words about ourselves
Trust Buy Cranberry GlassNever trust a business that doesn't supply really clear evidence of its whereabouts and physical existence. Although the thingy to the right is called "Seal of Integrity", it doesn't really vouch for our character which probably is just as well (grin!), but it sure supplies some solid information about who, and where, we are. This information can also be found on our Privacy Policy page.
